Disbarred in New York

The Appellate Division, First Department ordered that he be "disbarred from the practice of law, effective immediately" and "his name stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York". The court found he "communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers, and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump's failed effort at reelection in 2020".

Ordered to pay $148 million for defaming two election workers

A federal jury in Washington found him liable for defaming Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, the Georgia election workers he had falsely accused of "sneaking in ballots in suitcases, counting ballots multiple times and tampering with voting machines". It awarded them $148 million. The judgment was later satisfied under a settlement with the two women. The accusations the jury found defamatory are the same claims about the State Farm Arena recording for which the New York court disbarred him, and the same election he was charged over in Fulton County.

Indicted in Fulton County over the Georgia result

Charged in the August 2023 racketeering indictment in Fulton County, one of nineteen defendants accused of a scheme to overturn Georgia's 2020 result. He pleaded not guilty. Four co-defendants took plea deals; he did not. The case never reached trial. The district attorney was disqualified for an appearance of impropriety, and the prosecutor who took it over dropped the charges against all remaining defendants on November 26, 2025, citing the years the case would take and the impossibility of compelling a sitting president to stand trial in Georgia. The racketeering charge against him ended with it, untried. Separately, a federal jury in Washington had already found him liable for defaming two Georgia election workers, and he was disbarred in New York over the same election claims — both recorded here.
