Disbarment recommended in California
A State Bar Court judge found him culpable on ten of the eleven disciplinary charges and recommended disbarment, holding that he "abandoned his ethical and legal duties as an attorney to conspire with then-President Donald Trump to develop and implement a strategy to obstruct the counting of electoral votes on January 6, 2021". He was placed on involuntary inactive status and cannot practice law in California while the matter is before the state Supreme Court.
