Responsible
Tommy Tuberville
U.S. Senator — Alabama
Sworn in three days before the count, and among the senators who said beforehand that they would object. He voted to sustain both objections. While the Capitol was being cleared he took a call from the president — placed in error to Senator Mike Lee's phone — and told him the vice president had just been removed from the chamber for his safety, before ending the call to evacuate himself. He has said he has no regrets. He gave up the Senate seat to run for governor of Alabama and won the Republican primary in 2026.
