Mike Johnson

Speaker of the House of Representatives, 2023– · U.S. Representative — LA-4
On December 9, 2020 he emailed House Republicans asking them to sign an amicus brief supporting Texas's suit to throw out the results in four states Joe Biden had won. The subject line was "Time-sensitive request from President Trump", and he told them the president had called him that morning to express his appreciation for the effort. One hundred and twenty-six members signed it. The Supreme Court dismissed the underlying petition the next day, seven to two. He then voted to sustain both objections to the counting of electoral votes on January 6-7, 2021. In October 2023 the Republican conference elected him Speaker of the House, and he was returned to the chair in 2025. He holds it still.
