Shut down the United States Agency for International Development
As Secretary of State, moved to close the government's foreign aid agency, saying it "strayed from its original mission long ago", and took its remaining programs into the State Department. The vast majority of its staff were terminated on July 1 and September 2, 2025. He held the post of acting administrator of the agency he was closing.
